Do you even need a writer in the age of AI?
Only if you believe there’s a difference between describing the human experience and understanding it.
Great writing is about much more than producing grammatically correct sentences or presenting information clearly.
It’s about understanding a subject deeply and, maybe more importantly, understanding your audience.
This is especially true when writing about mental health and psychology.
I’ve been trained to translate complex research into accessible, accurate information. And my experience has taught me how to communicate sensitive information with compassion and nuance.
But above all, good writing is engaging. It captures the reader’s attention and carries them seamlessly from one paragraph to the next.
That’s what I do.
I have an academic background in psychology, over 10 years of experience working in mental health and years of writing and editing for established organisations.
That means, there’s not only a wealth of knowledge and experience behind my words, but years spent honing my craft:
finding the right words, asking the right questions and knowing when something doesn’t quite sound right.
More about my writing experience
Since 2021, I’ve written hundreds of evidence-based articles for Mind, Priory Group, PositivePsychology.com, Simply Psychology, Psychreg, the Mental Health Foundation and others.
I’ve developed and written many scripts for apps like My Possible Self and Inner Purpose and blog posts for Earthed and Calltime Mental Health.
Topics range from mental health conditions, identity, relationships, attachment theory and addiction to mindfulness, ecopsychology and more.
For example, I was commissioned to write over 100,000 words on narcissism, including a book and many, many articles. I even went on a podcast to talk about narcissistic projection.
I’ve edited a couple of self-help books, some academic papers, several news articles and a little bit of fiction. Editing is a great love of mine.
Other projects include
- supporting Dr Julie, a clinical psychologist and best-selling author, on evidence-based social media content development
- writing a proposal and booklet for Griffeye, a company working with the UK National Crime Agency on online child sexual abuse material investigations
- planning and rewriting all website copy in English and German for MEDIAN Group according to the corporate narrative
- writing meditation scripts for Cubicle Ninjas’ Guided Meditation Virtual Reality
